Everything you need to know about using Like To Find
Welcome to Like To Find.
This guide is here to help you get the most out of the app. If you're wondering how something works, start here.
👤 Your Profile
How do I edit my profile?
Go to My Profile and choose the section you want to update.
You can update the information that you've chosen to share with the Like To Find community.
Your profile is your opportunity to tell people a little about you. Be specific and honest rather than trying to write what you think people want to hear.
Can I write my own profile?
Yes.
You can write your profile yourself, or you can ask Cupid to help you.
You remain in control of what appears on your profile.
Can I change my age?
Your age is deliberately protected.
You enter your current age, rather than your date of birth. This means we don't need to store your full date of birth.
You can't freely change your age because we use age information for safeguarding and access to some areas of Like To Find.
If you've made a genuine mistake, you can ask the Like To Find team to correct it.
If you've had a birthday, the app allows you to increase your age appropriately.
How do I change the age of my children?
Your children's ages are recorded using broad age groups rather than dates of birth.
The options are:
- 0–5 years
- Primary School
- Secondary School
- College/Uni
- Grown Up
These can help other people understand whether your circumstances might be compatible with theirs without you having to provide detailed information about your children.
Why can I only have one photograph?
We've deliberately chosen one photograph per profile.
Your profile is about more than your photographs, and we don't want Like To Find to become a competition over who has the best collection of pictures.
Please also respect other people's choice to have one photograph.
Don't ask someone for additional photographs.
❤️ Who I'd Like To Find
How do I tell Like To Find what age I'd like to date?
In My Profile, you can choose your preferred dating age range.
You can select:
- A minimum age
- A maximum age
This is a private preference.
It helps Like To Find understand the sort of people you're interested in, but it doesn't prevent you from discovering people outside your chosen range.
How do I tell Like To Find how far I'm prepared to travel?
In your profile preferences, you can choose the distance you're comfortable travelling to meet someone.
The default is 30 miles, but you can change this.
Your distance preference helps with compatibility and discovery, but it isn't an absolute barrier. Someone slightly further away won't automatically disappear from Like To Find.
💌 Flirt Cards
How do I send a Flirt Card?
When you're viewing someone who you're permitted to contact, you'll see the option to send a Flirt Card.
Choose Send a Flirt Card, write your message and send it.
Try to say something specific about why you'd like to connect.
For example:
"I noticed we both love live music. I'd be interested to hear what you've been listening to lately."
That's much more useful than simply saying "Hi".
Why can't I send someone a Flirt Card?
There are several possible reasons.
For example:
- You're a Guest and Flirt Cards are currently a Member-only feature.
- You've already sent that person a Flirt Card recently.
- They previously declined your Flirt Card and the 30-day period hasn't passed.
- Their Flirt Card age preference doesn't allow you to contact them.
- Another existing Like To Find restriction applies.
If someone's age preference prevents you from sending a Flirt Card, you can still view their profile.
The restriction is on contacting them, not discovering them.
What does it mean if someone's age preference stops me sending a Flirt Card?
Some people choose who they're comfortable receiving Flirt Cards from.
If your age falls outside their chosen criteria, you'll see a message explaining that the Flirt Card can't be sent.
You won't be shown their exact age preference.
You can still view their profile and continue browsing other singles.
Can I send another Flirt Card if someone hasn't replied?
No.
If someone hasn't responded to your Flirt Card, you need to wait 30 days before sending another one.
The same applies if they've declined your Flirt Card.
This is designed to prevent people from feeling pressured by repeated contact.
📥 Receiving a Flirt Card
How do I know if I've received a Flirt Card?
You'll receive a notification when someone sends you a Flirt Card.
Check the Flirt Cards section of the app regularly.
We also send email notifications and reminders, so you don't have to rely solely on logging into the app.
What happens when I receive one?
Open your Flirt Cards section to see the card and the person's message.
You'll be able to see who sent it and view their profile where your permissions allow.
You can then decide whether you'd like to:
- Accept
- Decline
You don't have to accept a Flirt Card simply because someone has sent one.
Can I write my own response when I decline?
Yes.
When you decline a Flirt Card, you can either:
- Use the standard polite decline
or:
- Write your own polite decline.
If you choose to write your own, keep it kind and respectful.
You don't need to explain yourself in great detail.
Can I delete a Flirt Card notification?
Yes.
You can delete notifications from your Flirt Cards area where the delete option is available.
Deleting the notification does not mean that you're deleting the underlying history from the Like To Find system.
🧭 Finding Singles
How do I find people?
Go to Find Singles.
You'll be able to browse people who are available within the Like To Find community.
Depending on your access level, you may also see sections such as:
- Find Singles
- New Members
- People Who Share Your Interests
Can I use filters?
Yes.
Use the available filters to narrow what you're looking at.
For example, you can filter by gender.
Your selected filters can also be reflected in the New Members and People Who Share Your Interests sections.
Why can I see someone who isn't within my preferred age range?
Your preferred age range is a preference, not necessarily a hard search restriction.
We don't want to hide people from you simply because they don't fit neatly within the range you've entered.
You may still discover someone and decide that you'd like to know more about them.
👥 Member and Guest
What does the Member or Guest label mean?
Every profile will show whether the person is a:
- Member
or:
- Guest
This tells you what level of access they have within Like To Find.
The label should remain consistent wherever you see that person in the app.
What can Guests do?
Guests can browse available profiles and explore the Like To Find community.
They have some restrictions compared with Members.
For example, Guests cannot send Flirt Cards.
When a Guest encounters a Member-only feature, they'll be given the opportunity to upgrade.
Why can I see Members but not their first names as a Guest?
Guests can browse Member profiles, but some identifying information is protected.
You'll still be able to see useful information about the person and read their profile.
If you'd like to access the additional Member functionality, you can upgrade to membership.
🕐 Last Online
What does Last Online mean?
Last Online is designed to show the date someone was last active on Like To Find.
We show the date only, rather than the exact time.
This can help you understand whether someone is likely to be actively using the app.
If someone hasn't yet used the app, you may see an appropriate indication that they haven't been online.
🎉 After Party
What is the After Party?
The After Party is the online extension of your Solo Connects event.
It gives people another opportunity to see who was at the event and make connections afterwards.
How do I join an After Party?
If you're a Guest who attended an event, you'll normally join using the event-specific link in your email or the QR code provided at the event.
Follow the link and choose Join After Party.
Once you've joined, you'll appear among the Event Attendees.
Why do I see two groups of people?
You'll see:
Event Attendees
These are people who actually joined that particular event's After Party.
They may be Members or Guests.
Like To Find Members
These are Members who are eligible to browse that After Party but didn't attend that particular event.
They are shown separately so that you don't mistake someone browsing the After Party for someone who was actually at the event.
Can Members join an After Party if they didn't attend the event?
Yes.
Members can browse and join relevant After Parties, subject to the existing age and access rules.
This means you may see Members in an After Party who weren't at the event itself.
That's why they're displayed under Like To Find Members rather than Event Attendees.
Can I view someone's full profile in the After Party?
Yes.
Use the View Full Profile button beneath their profile.
The information you can see will depend on your existing permissions.
🤖 Cupid
How do I use Cupid?
Go to the Cupid/profile help area within My Profile.
Cupid will ask you questions designed to help you think about what you want your profile to say.
You can answer the questions, skip questions you don't want to answer, and work through the process at your own pace.
Why does Cupid ask me questions?
Because the more specific you are, the more useful your profile can become.
Instead of giving you generic dating-app language, Cupid is designed to help you think about:
- Who you are
- What you enjoy
- What you're like as a person
- What you're looking for
- What matters to you
- What you don't want
Cupid may ask one follow-up question if something you've said could be explored a little further.
If you skip that follow-up, Cupid won't keep interrogating you about the same subject.
Does Cupid write my profile for me?
You can choose whether you want help from Cupid or write your profile yourself.
Cupid's job is to help you find your own words, not turn your profile into generic AI dating prose.
You remain in control of the final version.
How do I know my Cupid profile has saved?
Once you've saved your profile, Like To Find will show you the date it was saved.
You can return to your profile and edit it again whenever you want.
⏸️ Pausing Your Profile
Can I pause my profile?
Yes.
Pausing your profile allows you to temporarily hide it while keeping your account active.
This can be useful if:
- You're taking a break from dating.
- You've started talking to someone.
- You're going away.
- You simply don't want to be visible for a while.
Pausing your profile is different from deleting your account.
🛡️ Safety, Privacy and Respect
What should I do if someone makes me uncomfortable?
You don't have to continue communicating with someone who makes you uncomfortable.
Use the available Report or Block functionality where appropriate.
If you're concerned about someone's behaviour, please report it to the Like To Find team.
Can someone see my private preferences?
No.
Preferences such as your preferred dating age range and who you're willing to receive Flirt Cards from are intended to help Like To Find work for you.
They aren't displayed publicly as part of your profile.
Why does someone sometimes have a restriction on contacting them?
People have different preferences and boundaries.
Someone may have chosen to limit who can send them Flirt Cards based on age, or another existing Like To Find rule may apply.
This doesn't necessarily mean they've blocked you.
Discovery and contact are deliberately separate.
📧 I Need Help
Something isn't working. What should I do?
First, try:
- Make sure you have a good internet connection.
- Close and reopen Like To Find.
- If necessary, log out and back in again.
- If you're using a browser, make sure you're using an up-to-date version.
If you're still having a problem, please contact the Like To Find team using the Need Help button in the footer.
❤️ A Final Reminder
Like To Find works best when everyone treats each other with a little consideration.
You don't have to appeal to everyone.
You don't have to respond to everyone.
You don't have to accept a Flirt Card.
And nobody owes you a response.
Be clear about who you are, be respectful of other people's boundaries and, where you can, take the connection offline and meet in the real world.
That's what Like To Find is really here for.
